2014 Acura MDX Prototype at Detroit Auto Show

Although you'd never know by looking at it, this next gen Acura MDX isn't a production vehicle- it's a prototype, although Acura (and Honda) prototypes often end up producing very similar production variants. Expect this to be the case for the 2014 MDX when it goes on sale mid-year.
Unlike the NSX, Acura shared plenty of production details for this vehicle. It will seat 7 and will be propelled by a 3.5 litre V6. No power numbers available yet, but Acura expects better torque output and improved fuel economy.
Other interesting notes for the new model include an available front-wheel drive variant for warmer U.S. climates, in addition to the all-wheel drive version. No word yet about whether the FWD version will make it to Canada, bit given our harsher climate, odds are it'll be available in the U.S. only.
One other note, production will move from Alliston, Ontario to Lincoln, Alabama.
