The July 26-27 weekend marked the inaugural test of the season for Tom Tang and his TunerPlayground x Blacktrax Performance S2000, also known as "Irene." The car underwent a major overhaul for upgrades back in December of last year.

Tom ran the car for two days at Buttonwillow Raceway in California and ended up competing in the J's Racing S2K Challenge time-attack event on Sunday (July 27). He was able to set not only a new personal best, but also a best for the car and an overall FTD with a 1:55.736 in 105F degrees ambient with a newly repaved track. This also meant that Tom won overall for the J's Racing S2K Challenge event.
"I'm really excited to continue development on the car, especially since there's still plenty left to do with regard to the new engine (due to lack of time we didn't tune to maximum potential), as well as for the overall setup (suspension, alignment, and aerodynamics)," Tom Tang mentioned.
